ABOUT
KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING INSIDE YOUR HV/MV ASSETS

PDP Technologies is an Industrial 4.0 IoT technology provider, delivering real-time partial discharge (PD) monitoring services to owners of high-voltage and medium voltage assets.
Our mission is to help power companies and other equipment owners understand what's happening "under the hood" of their critical assets. Due to the difficulty of maintaining thousands of widely distributed assets, many utilities do not perform maintenance until a failure occurs. Given the high cost and very long replacement times for transformers and other HV/MV equipment, companies are looking for smarter, more efficient ways to maintain their assets.
PDP offers a non-invasive, fully managed predictive maintenance solution that performs continuous (24/7/365) on-line PD monitoring of static and dynamic electric assets, such as transformers, busbars, power lines, generators, and turbines.
This cost-effective, no-hassle service makes it easy for utilities, power companies, and building owners to continuously gauge asset health, plan preventative maintenance schedules, extend asset lifecycles, and prepare in advance for asset replacement.

PD MONITORING OVER IoT

Leveraging IoT technology and a data-driven Industry 4.0 approach, our PD monitoring service enables equipment owners to modernize their asset health management and implement smart condition-based maintenance (CBM) programs. By optimizing maintenance strategy, equipment owners can reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by up to 40% and help prevent catastrophic failures.
Here's what sets PDPs solution apart from other PD monitoring vendors:
-
Non-invasive monitoring – no need to shut down transformer to install sensors, no impact on transformer operations and no need to send technicians to site
-
Continuous real-time monitoring – works round-the-clock to enable continuous evaluation of asset health throughout service life
-
AI-driven data analytics - combines historical trends with predictive analytics capabilities for more informed decision-making
-
Advanced detection capabilities – enables early-stage detection of insulation degradation using highly granular remote sensing and cloud-based analytics

ENABLING REAL-TIME ASSET HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Partial discharge (PD) is the silent killer of high-voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) equipment. PD is the most reliable indicator of an incipient fault in HV/MV insulation, while statistics show that PD events are the main cause for 85% of all failures of HV/MV components containing insulators.
Utilities and other companies have traditionally implemented reactive or time-based maintenance strategies for transformers and other HV/MV assets. Waiting for a failure to occur (reactive), or replacing a transformer based on age (time-based) rather than health, carry a steep price both in terms of service continuity and operational efficiency. Condition-based maintenance practices, on the other hand, require a way to monitor asset health in an ongoing manner.

NON-INVASIVE, CONTINUOUS AND PREDICTIVE PD MONITORING
Addressing these challenges, PDP has developed a breakthrough PD monitoring technology that remotely detects and monitors PD events and environmental conditions within HV/MV assets. In contrast to traditional monitoring solutions, PDP's technology is non-invasive and continuous, providing equipment owners with real-time information on asset health at any given time.
The PD Monitor utilizes a UWB antenna, located up to 10 feet away from the asset, which detects and analyzes electromagnetic emissions associated with PD impulses. Using IoT technology, each monitor in the field connects to and sends the collected data to the central analytics and processing system in the cloud.
Advanced data analytics and predictive algorithms enable early detection and warning of incipient faults, condition-based prioritization of maintenance activities, and better asset performance over time.
PDP's technology is vendor-agnostic and works with any type of HV/MV asset susceptible to PD events, such as:
• Transformers
• Busbars
• Switchgears
• Power lines
• Generator
• Electric motors
• Turbines
